At the core of the pistol is Springfield Armory’s Central Operating Group (COG) — a fully self-contained, serialized stainless-steel chassis system that allows the fire control unit to be easily removed and installed into different grip modules. This modular system provides exceptional adaptability and simplifies maintenance while maintaining consistent performance.

The integrated compensator built into the slide and barrel redirects gases upward to reduce muzzle rise and improve shot-to-shot recovery. The result is improved control during rapid fire and greater accuracy under defensive or competitive conditions.

The pistol features a 4-inch hammer-forged barrel with Melonite® finish, a billet-machined optics-ready slide, and Springfield’s innovative Variable Interface System (VIS). This mounting system uses self-locking pins to allow direct mounting of many popular pistol optics without plates, helping maintain a consistent point of aim and point of impact.
